My artwork for Summer’s End, and apple mead produced by San Diego’s Lost Cause Meadery! I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to create this design for them and their delicious mead. They came to me with a Samhain pagan festival theme. Samhain means Summer’s End, and inspired the festivities that were eventually co-opted into what we now know as Halloween by the Christian church. Druids had a practice of cutting apples in half to expose their star seed formation, which they saw as a naturally occurring pentagram.
